Custom Software and MVP Development

QuantumBlock is a software development company in Dubai building web, mobile and SaaS products for UAE and Saudi companies. Custom Software and MVP Development

The cost of getting this wrong

What getting Custom Software and MVP Development wrong costs you

Six weeks quoted, a login screen delivered

Six weeks quoted, a login screen delivered

Fixed scope with no weekly demos means you find out in month four that the product is half built, and the second half costs more than the first.

An MVP that cannot grow up

An MVP that cannot grow up

Built fast on shortcuts that hold up for a pilot group and collapse under real traffic, so success itself forces a rewrite at exactly the moment you can least afford one.

Code you do not own

Code you do not own

The repository, the cloud account and the app store listing sit in the vendor's name. Changing vendors becomes a negotiation, and sometimes a hostage situation.

Every founder in Dubai has heard a version of this story, and some have lived it. The agency quoted six weeks for the whole app. Four months later there is a login screen, a half-finished dashboard and a change request for "phase two" that costs more than phase one. Nobody lied, exactly. There were simply no weekly demos, so the gap between the plan and reality stayed invisible until it was too wide to close cheaply. The expensive part is not the overrun. It is the months of market time you lost while you waited.

The second failure is the MVP that works too well. It was built fast on shortcuts that hold up for a friendly pilot group, which is fine, until marketing works and thousands of real users arrive in the same week. Payments time out, the database locks, the app store reviews turn ugly. Now the success you were hoping for forces a rewrite at exactly the moment you can least afford to stop shipping. Speed and a sound architecture are not opposites. They only look that way when nobody senior makes the architecture decisions in week one.

The third trap is ownership. The repository sits in the agency's account, the cloud bill runs through their card, and the app store listing is under their developer name. It feels like a detail until you want to change vendor, raise money or pass due diligence. Then it becomes a negotiation. Budgets are growing fast in the region, with Gartner forecasting MENA software spending up 13.9 percent to 20.4 billion US dollars in 2026 (Gartner), and more money moving through vendors only makes these mistakes more expensive.

A different way to buy engineering

Ten weeks, a demo every week, and you own it all

Software projects rarely fail on code. They fail on surprises: the feature nobody scoped, the integration nobody tested, the launch nobody rehearsed. The whole process exists to surface each one early, while it is still cheap.

You should never have to ask how the project is going. You should be able to click it.

A launchable product in ten weeks, with code, cloud and IP in your name from day one.

Ten weeks, a demo every week, and you own it all

The MVP Sprint runs for ten weeks. In week one we cut your idea down to the smallest product that proves the business, agree it in writing and make the architecture decisions that will matter at ten times your launch traffic. From week two to week eight, every week ends with working software on a real URL that you can click, test and show to customers. Scope changes are allowed, and they are traded openly: something new comes in, something of equal size goes out or moves to the next phase. Week nine is for hardening, security review and a load test. Week ten is launch, monitoring and hand-over. Nothing about this is clever. It simply makes the truth visible every seven days.

Our engineers build with AI coding agents under senior review, which lets a small team cover work that used to need a much larger one. We do not use that to cut corners. We use the time saved on the parts that usually get skipped: automated tests, error handling, documentation and a proper CI/CD pipeline. The stack is deliberately unexciting: TypeScript, Nuxt or Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL and Flutter, with Stripe or Telr for payments and Odoo or Zoho integration when your operations run on them. Web3 and smart contracts are in the toolbox when a blockchain genuinely solves the problem, and we will tell you plainly when it does not.

Launch is the start of the product, not the end of the project, so we plan for what comes after from week one. The hand-over includes documentation a new engineer can follow, a CI/CD pipeline that deploys with one command, monitoring that tells you about problems before your customers do, and a prioritised backlog for the next phase. From there you choose: your own team takes over, we continue on a monthly basis, or a dedicated engineer joins you. None of those options depends on us holding anything back.

Your engagement lead is in Dubai, owns scope and is reachable on WhatsApp. The engineers are in Yerevan, in the same time zone as Dubai, so the weekly demo happens during your working day. Everything is created in your name from the first day: repositories, cloud accounts in a UAE or Saudi region, domains and app store listings. If you need extra hands on an existing product rather than a new build, look at dedicated teams and staff augmentation. If you are still sizing the budget, our guide to how much it costs to build an app in Dubai sets out market ranges by app type, with sources.

How it works

How the engagement runs, week by week

  1. Week 1

    Scope, architecture, design system

We cut the idea down to the smallest product that proves the business, agree it in writing, choose the architecture and set up the design system, repositories and cloud accounts in your name.

  2. Weeks 2 to 8

    Weekly shipped increments

Every week ends with a demo of working software on a real URL, not a progress report. You test it, we adjust, and scope changes are traded openly rather than added silently.

  3. Week 9

    Hardening, security review, load test

Error handling, logging, backups, a security review of authentication, payments and data access, and a load test at well above your launch traffic, so launch week is boring.

  4. Week 10

    Launch and hand-over

Production release, app store submission where needed, monitoring switched on, and a hand-over with documentation and CI/CD so your team or ours can keep shipping from day one.

Fit

Who this is for

  • A founder with a validated idea and funding who needs a launchable product in a quarter, built so it will not need a rewrite if it succeeds.
  • An established UAE or Saudi business replacing spreadsheets and disconnected tools with one custom system that fits how it actually works.
  • A company with a half-finished product from a previous vendor that needs an honest audit and a team to finish it.
  • Not for you if the idea has not been tested with a single customer yet. Talk to five of them first; we will still be here, and the MVP will be better for it.

Questions buyers ask us

How much does it cost to build an app in Dubai?

We do not publish prices. You get a fixed quote within 2 business days after a scoping call. For what the Dubai market charges by app type, with sources, see our cost guide to building an app in Dubai.

How long does an MVP take?

Our MVP Sprint is ten weeks: one week of scope and architecture, seven weeks of weekly shipped increments, one week of hardening and one week for launch. Larger products run as a sequence of sprints after a first launch.

Do we own the code?

Yes, always. The repositories, cloud accounts, domains and app store listings are created in your name from day one, and all code and IP belong to you. We keep no retained access once the work is handed over unless you ask us to.

Which stack do you recommend for a Gulf startup?

Usually TypeScript end to end with Nuxt or Next.js, Node.js and PostgreSQL, Flutter for mobile, hosted in a UAE or Saudi cloud region. It is boring in the best way: easy to hire for, fast to build and well supported. We change it only for a clear reason.

Can you take over a half-finished project?

Yes. We start with a short code and infrastructure audit, tell you honestly what can be kept, what must be fixed and what should be rebuilt, and then take over delivery. Sometimes the right answer is less rework than you feared.

Do you build Web3 or blockchain products?

Yes, when the business case is real. We build smart contracts in Solidity on Ethereum and compatible chains, wallets and tokenisation features, with security reviews. If a normal database would do the job better, we will say so.

Can you integrate with Odoo, Zoho or Dynamics?

Yes. We connect custom products to Odoo, Zoho and Microsoft Dynamics through their APIs for orders, invoices, inventory and customer data, including UAE and ZATCA e-invoicing flows, so staff stop typing the same record twice.

What happens after launch?

You choose. Your own team takes over with our documentation and CI/CD, or we continue with a monthly support and development arrangement, or a dedicated engineer joins your team. Either way, nothing is locked to us.
